Our History
DJ Almas, short form for brothers, Ali and Massud, had begun their career in 2005. What was once considered a high school hobby for the two young men was actually their key to stardom. Excelling through local performances, DJ Almas was recognized as the first Afghan DJ in the Afghan community in Toronto, Canada. DJ Almas’ performances were conducted at numerous University festivities across North America, on top of the exclusive performances in Germany and California. Latest productions of mixes has crowned DJ Almas as one of the leading DJ’s in the industry, recently awarded Top Finalist at the Multicultural World Cup DJ Battle representing Afghanistan.
Throughout the years, DJ Almas has worked in partnership with many international artists such as Ehsan Aman & Naghma. Exhilarating performances during concerts along side with known celebrities, DJ Almas was often very well anticipated by the crowd to lead the after party.
Personal
Ali Asgary, 28, is currently a successful commercial realtor working with Cushman and Wakefield, alongside his current occupation, Ali produces dance music with his brother Massud, 24, to form what is known as DJ Almas. Massud has recently graduated the University of Ontario Institute of Technology with an undergraduate degree in Health Science (Honours) majoring in Kinesiology.
Music
Mastering cultural flavours of both Afghan and Persian music, DJ Almas has recently collaborated modern genres of house and electro music into his work. DJ Almas’ unorthodox twist in his music has built a fan base exceeding many popular local artists. Fan favourite mixes include, Afghan Megamix, Persian Club Mix Vol. I and II, Qataghani Mix, and Persian Summer Mix.
